Strained buttocks keeps Nats' Murphy out of lineup

Nationals manager Dusty Baker said an MRI revealed Daniel Murphy has a strain in his left buttocks. Murphy, who had missed four consecutive games entering Friday, has been shut down for the next few days.

Baker said the strain is mild, but it does affect Murphy when he runs. The team is not sure how long he will be out or whether the injury will have postseason implications.

Murphy has hit .347 in 141 games this season, ranking him second in the Majors in batting average to Colorado's DJ LeMahieu, who is hitting .
