Cards' loss means Nats clinch Game 163

The Nationals are one step closer to the postseason, having guaranteed at least a Game 163 as a result of the Cardinals' 5-0 loss to the Cubs at Wrigley on Friday afternoon.

The Cardinals' loss allowed the Nats to clinch at least a tie for a National League Wild Card spot, and thus at least a tiebreaker game. The Nationals would clinch a postseason berth outright if they beat the Pirates tonight at PNC Park.

There are two other clinch possibilities for the Nationals heading into tonight's games. Washington would clinch the NL East outright with a win and a Mets loss to the Phillies.
