The MLB All-Star Break Comes At A Perfect Time For Jayson Werth And The Nationals

The MLB All-Star break comes at a perfect time for the slumping Jayson Werth and his Washington Nationals teammates. Jayson Werth is hitting .215 and looking nothing like the player he was in Philadelphia.

He needs to take these four days and get away from everything. I wouldn't read the papers, listen to sports radio or watch sportscenter. Just go and hangout with the family and unwind because he's wound so tight right now that I'm afraid his head will explode.

Werth's body language says it all when you watch him play. He wants to prove that he's worth the money the Nationals paid him last winter when they gave him franchise player money. I agree with Dan Daly of the Washington Times that it will never happen.

Werth needs to stop trying to be Albert Pujols and just be Jayson Werth, the one from Philly and then we'll be fine. Here is how I look at his contract, we went after him with the ridiculous offer and I can't fault him for signing it. It's not like he was here and held out until the team finally caved and met his demands.

Why on earth did GM Mike Rizzo pay franchise money and give a full no trade clause is beyond me. I wonder how this will impact us a few more years down the road when some of our young talent is ready to get paid?

Maybe Mike Morse could spare one of those Beast Mode shirts that helped get him turned around!
