Span exits early in opener against Reds

WASHINGTON -- Nationals center fielder Denard Span left Monday's game against the Reds for undisclosed reasons and was replaced by outfielder Matt den Dekker.

Span had one at-bat against Reds right-hander Anthony DeSclafani, popping up to shortstop Eugenio Suarez in the first inning. Span played one more inning, but he left in the top of the third.

Michael Taylor, who started in left field was shifted to center field, while den Dekker went to left field. den Dekker promptly singled and alertly scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 1 in the third inning.
