Nationals Trade With Royals For Outfielder Gregor Blanco

The Washington Nationals obtained CF Gregor Blanco in a trade with the Kansas City Royals in exchange for a player to be named. Blanco was playing CF at Triple-A Omaha and hitting .196 with 9 stolen bases in 10 attempts this season.

Blanco started his career with the Atlanta Braves, he was traded to the Royals for Rick Ankiel and pitcher Kyle Farnsworth at last seasons MLB trade deadline. In 49 games for the Royals last year he hit .274 with 10 steals. He's played in 253 big league games and has a .258 career average.

I wouldn't put too much stock in his current numbers at Omaha this season and a change of scenery will prove that in my opinion. The Nationals will be sending him to Triple-A Syracuse and will not be adding him to the 40 man roster.
