3 Washington Nationals Players Who Have Been A Disappointment So Far In 2015

You can’t win them all every single month of every single baseball season, and these next three guys are living proof of that. Here’s our list of Washington Nationals Players Who Have Been A Disappointment So Far In 2015.

1B Ryan Zimmerman

Zimmerman was placed on the disabled list on June 11th with plantar fascittis in his left foot, so we're expecting him to break out in a big way as he gets accustomed to the orthotics in his cleats. However, that doesn't change the current fact that he's slashed just .209/.265/.346 this season and was on a 1 for 22 skid before being DL'd.

SS Ian Desmond

Via Dan Shiferaw of CSN Washington:

...the 29-year-old's struggles have been well documented over the season's first half. Some have wondered if he's truly healthy, if there's additional pressure from being in a contract year or perhaps some other reason altogether. Whatever the source of his troubles are, his teammates say they still believe that his career track record is more telling of his true ability rather than what he's shown thus far in 2015.

Desmond is currently hitting just .224 with seven home runs and 23 RBIs, and his yips at short have been a constant source of frustration. He's bound to come out of his funk sooner or late, but the question is whether he'll still be in a Nats uniform when that happens.

LHP Gio Gonzalez

His beard may now be sponsored, but it's the pitcher behind the beautiful facial hair who's been struggling with inconsistency this year. Gio has posted quality starts in eight of his fourteen starts, but the other six have been nothing short of disastrous -- pushing his overall ERA north of 4.40 and his WHIP to a troublesome 1.49 mark. Most of Gio's problems have come on the road (5.89 ERA), so maybe it's just a focus issue that'll correct itself during the dog days of summer.
