Washington's Chris Petersen signs 2-year contract extension

SEATTLE (AP) — Washington coach Chris Petersen has signed a two-year contract extension keeping him tied to the Huskies through the 2020 season.

Washington announced Petersen's extension on Thursday morning. Petersen originally signed a five-year contract in December 2013. Petersen will be paid $4 million per season in 2019 and 2020, the same as he is scheduled to make in 2018, the final year of his original contract.

Petersen left Boise State to take over for Steve Sarkisian at Washington after the 2013 regular season. He led the Huskies to a bowl game and 8-6 record in his first season.
