Former Cal coach Jeff Tedford eyeing UW as a possible comeback to college coaching

Former California head coach Jeff Tedford, looking to get back into college coaching after a brief stint in the Canadian Football League, has had informal discussions with Washington coach Chris Petersen about potentially joining the Huskies staff as an offensive consultant.

Petersen and Tedford have a long history together, going back to their days as offensive assistants on the Oregon staff in the late 1990s. UW linebackers coach Bob Gregory is also close to Tedford, having worked as Cal’s defensive coordinator under Tedford for eight seasons.

Per NCAA compliance rules, Petersen and Tedford cannot formally discuss a position on UW’s staff at this time because Tedford is committed to working at an elite recruiting camp this summer, a UW source told The Seattle Times.
