Alex Ovechkin asserted himself once again as the top goal scorer in the league with a deafening statement in Minnesota tonight in another Washington Capitals victory. He scored three goals in the second period to lead the Caps to their fifth consecutive win over the scuffling Minnesota Wild 4-3.
After a first period that featured six penalties and little flow, the Washington Capitals looked harmless on on early second period power play, but right after it expired Ovechkin was in position to deflect a ricochet in off a point shot to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
