Monday began like the rest of them had for the Washington Capitals, with goaltending coach Mitch Korn leading pre-skate drills for his charges. It continued as the remaining players and coaches trickled onto the ice, warming up hours before their biggest – and quite possibly last — game of the 2014-15 season, and progressed through their usual morning routine. Nothing seemed different, except for the events listed on their schedule for the next three days:
Tuesday, April 28
TBD
Wednesday, April 29
TBD
Thursday, April 30
TBD
The Capitals had predicted their Eastern Conference quarterfinals with the New York Islanders would reach its maximum number of games, thereby leaving so much uncertainty for the days to come, and yet here they were, hours before Game 7, trying to act like it was no different than the 88 that came before it.
