The Washington Capitals and forward Evgeny Kuznetsov are working on a contract extension to retain their second-line center for between two and three years, according to his agent.
“I think we have a good dialogue,” Maxim Molliver said Sunday afternoon. “We’re motivated to get it done. We’re having good conversations with the Caps.”
Washington had extended a qualifying offer to Kuznetsov worth at least $945,000, or 105 percent of his previous salary. Molliver declined comment when asked about the contract’s proposed value, but it’s believed that Kuznetsov could receive a significant raise, possibly tipping over the $3 million mark.
