Biased, kooky, brilliant, passive-aggressive. All adjectives used by students to describe various Wake Forest professors on the rating site Wake Ratings. Every department has some professors heralded as the best at Wake Forest and some to avoid at all costs.
This past winter, Benjamin Schmidt. a history professor at Northeastern University, questioned whether some of these adjectives were used to describe either male or female professors more frequently.
To answer that question, he collected data from all 14 million reviews on the comprehensive ratings website Rate My Professor and made an interactive chart to show which words were more commonly used to describe male versus female professors.
