Down the street from Wake Forest’s campus on Reynolda Road, Karen Dioli serves delicious Italian cuisine paired with a warm smile, making Dioli’s Italian Market a favorite restaurant for students.

In 1999, Dioli and her husband, Roger, wanted to have more children and settle down. Based on a family friend’s glowing review of Winston-Salem, they left San Francisco and headed for North Carolina. Soon after, they opened Dioli’s.

Now a mother of four, Dioli expertly whips up a plethora of family recipies each day, including Italian pastries and savory meatballs.

Wake Forest students constantly flock to Dioli’s for mouthwatering sandwiches on foccacia bread, visiting so often that Dioli now knows many of their specialized orders by heart.
