Drew Piazza, a track and field standout who recently concluded his Virginia Tech career at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, finished in fifth place in the 800-meter run at the USA Outdoor Championships held at Sacramento State in Sacramento, California over the weekend.
Piazza, from Danvers, Massachusetts, broke his personal best in the event for the second time at the meet. He ran the final in a time of 1 minute, 45.69 seconds, and he came in less than two seconds behind winner Donavan Brazier, who claimed the gold medal with a time of 1:44.
