No. 2 Maryland doesn’t yet deserve a No. 1 seed. Here’s why.

Maryland fans perched themselves squarely in “are they in or are they out” conversations for a decade (from 2004 to 2014; you can look it up), so they find themselves with a very different topic consuming them as what might be the Terrapins’ best season in 14 years continues to unfold.

Mark Turgeon’s team is now a mainstay in human-produced rankings, which is swell for those who like to place a great deal of weight on those things. Of course, some of the people who don’t are the members of the NCAA men’s basketball committee that selects and seeds the field in March.
