Despite Kansas having four more 1st place votes, it’s Villanova who takes the top spot in this week’s AP poll. Kansas, however, is the clear #1 in the USA Today Coaches poll, where Nova moves up to #2.
This is Villanova’s second stint as the country’s #1 team just two weeks after a loss at Butler knocked them off the top spot. Unlike those previous 5 weeks atop the rankings, the nation’s sports writers are much more split with Kansas (32), Villanova (28), UCLA (3), and Gonzaga (2) all earning first place votes.
As for the rest of the Big East, Creighton moved up a spot to #7 as they still have just one loss on the season.
