Vanderbilt and NC State will face off in the 2016 Camping World Independence Bowl at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, La., on December 26.
The Commodores (6-6), now in their third season under coach Derek Mason, reached bowl eligibility for the first time since 2013 following back-to-back home wins over Ole Miss and Tennessee to close out the regular season.
The Wolfpack (6-6) picked up the needed sixth win for bowl eligibility in a 28-21 victory at North Carolina in its regular-season finale.
Vanderbilt and NC State have played each other twice – the 2012 Music City Bowl and a 1946 regular-season game.
