LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL – Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-18 Residency opened the 2016 Development Academy Winter Showcase with a 2-1 win over DC United U-18 on Thursday.
All three of the game’s goals were scored in the first half.
DC United opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, but Victory Shumbusho (Chilliwack, BC) responded less than a minute later. In fact, the goal came off the ensuing kick off, with Patrick Metcalfe slipping Shumbusho between the DC defenders.
Then, Gloire Amanda (Edmonton, AB) scored the eventual winner in the 32nd minute, heading in a well-placed Terran Campbell corner at the top of the six.
