Markstrom injured, Canucks recall Bachman to back up Miller in NHL season opener

CALGARY — It took zero games for the Vancouver Canucks to encounter a goaltending issue.

Backup goalie Jacob Markstrom, chosen by management and coaches to replace former No. 2 Eddie Lack, suffered a lower-body injury at the end of Tuesday's practice and has been replaced by minor-leaguer Richard Bachman for the Canucks' season-opener tonight against the Calgary Flames.

Ryan Miller will start for the Canucks.

Canucks general manager Jim Benning said during the morning skate here that it is too soon to say how long Markstrom may be out. He is undergoing further tests in Vancouver after getting hurt as Tuesday's practice was ending.
