While the Vancouver Canucks were eliminated in the first round, their AHL farm team is still going strong as the Utica Comets have advanced to the AHL Western Conference Finals.
It might have took a while to get the opening goal, but when it did it was all the Comets needed. Alexandre Grenier scored the only goal of Game 7 at the 7:11 mark of the third period to send the Comets to the next round. Jacob Markstrom stopped all 35 shots the Oklahoma City Barons gave him.
According to The Vancouver Sun, Markstrom achieved a bit of history with the shutout.
