For more than half a decade, Kevin Baker pined for the chance to coach Jordan Jenkins.
The woman who eventually became a star for Buffalo High School about 100 miles south of Dallas came on Baker's radar when she was in seventh grade, but it didn't seem to matter. Baker was the women's basketball coach at Division II Angelo State, and as he feared, the 5-foot-3 point guard was every bit a Division I player.
"I heard she wanted to go Division I, so I took a big swallow and moved to the next kid on the list," he said.
