XC teams finish 2nd, 5th at Ken Garland Invitational

For the second-consecutive week the first and second faces crossing the finish line were familiar to head coach John Sauerhage.

Senior long-distance runner Craig Lautenslager, competing in cross-country for the first time since 2014, won the Ken Garland Invitational on Saturday with a 4-mile time of 19:55.2.

Junior long-distance runner Michael Guerrero earned second place with a time of 20:03.5, after winning the Gerald Richey Invitational on Sep. 10, to earn second place overall.

The Mavericks held the top two individual times in the event, and no other UTA runner finished in the top 10. The team finished second with a combined top five times of 1:42:27.
