The Lady Mavericks held on to their undefeated conference record after defeating Texas State University 61-39 Saturday at Strahan Coliseum.
After falling behind to the Lady Bobcats in the first quarter, junior center Rebekah VanDijk led a 13-2 effort for UTA while denying Texas State field goals for almost eight minutes.
The Lady Bobcats tried to claw back, but UTA closed the third quarter on a 10-0 run, leading 43-31. The fourth quarter allowed the Lady Mavericks to further distance themselves, leading by up to 25 points.
VanDijk had a game-high 30 points and 14 rebounds while scoring nearly half of the team's points.
