The volleyball team will travel to Georgia for matches against Georgia Southern University and Georgia State University on Friday and Saturday.
The Mavericks are 4-0 against Georgia Southern University since the Eagles joined the Sun Belt Conference in 2014. Maverick head coach Diane Seymour said the team is bigger but slower.
“We’re more athletic than them, so we want to capitalize on our speed, for sure,” she said.
Although Georgia Southern has yet to beat UTA, its defense could spell trouble. Senior defensive specialist Alex Beecher is second in the conference in digs, and sophomore middle blocker Lauren Reichard is third in blocks.
