The UTA volleyball team wrapped up non-conference play at the UT Arlington Invitational Saturday at College Park Center, finishing 3-1 in the tournament.
The Mavericks coasted to an early 10-2 lead in the first set against the Houston Baptist Huskies. Three consecutive blocks and a smooth set-ending kill from sophomore middle blocker Zhanelle Geathers gave the Mavs a 25-9 win. The middle blockers carried the team and excelled defensively to contribute nine blocks in the set.
After UTA took the second set, Houston Baptist successfully prevented a match sweep in the third. Houston Baptist took the momentum to steal a 25-14 set win.
