After falling to the University of South Alabama Tuesday, the UTA softball team (32-25) defeated the Jaguars 2-1 in walk-off fashion Friday at the Troy Softball Complex to advance to the Sun Belt Championship semifinals.

The Jaguars plated a run in the first inning, giving them a slim 1-0 lead. Afterward, South Alabama couldn’t break past the Maverick defense as the Jaguars were retired consecutively through the next three innings.
South Alabama posed a scoring threat in the fifth, but the Jaguars stranded two runners on base.
