UTA Baseball closes season with championship loss

A historic season for the baseball team came to a close following its 4-2 loss against Arkansas State in the Sun Belt Championship's second round Friday at J.I. Clements Stadium.

Inclement weather changed the tournament from double- to single-elimination, meaning one loss would knock a team out of the tournament.

The Mavericks entered the game as the No. 2 seed in the tournament. Senior left fielder Quintin Rohrbaugh walked with the bases loaded in the first inning to give UTA a 1-0 lead.

Arkansas State quickly responded by scoring on an RBI single in the top of the second inning.
