Junior forward Kevin Hervey is back in player-of-the-year form.
He recorded his second consecutive double-double in a 77-61 win over the University of North Texas Mean Green Saturday at The Super Pit.
The Mean Green kept it close in the first half, going into the break trailing 34-30, despite shooting 22.9 percent from the floor.
But the Mavericks ran away with a 13-4 run to start the second half and the Mean Green never closed the gap to within single digits as the Mavs earned their fifth consecutive victory.
Hervey finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds on 8-13 shooting.
