The volleyball team begins conference play with weekend matches against South Alabama and Troy.
In their last match against South Alabama, the Mavericks swept the Jaguars 3-0 after narrow wins in the second and third sets.
UTA tends to have close matches with South Alabama, but to come out on the winning end, the team needs to stop South Alabama senior outside hitter Mechell Daniel and freshman outside hitter Iva Durdanovic, head coach Diane Seymour said.
“They’re really off to a good start so far,” Seymour said. “They’ve improved over the course of the last year, and they always give us a good match.
