USC men’s basketball, Bennie Boatwright need to end shooting slump

LOS ANGELES >> USC is in a slump.

The Trojans have dropped consecutive games, where they were held almost 10 points less than their season average and shot less than 40 percent.

It has not been entirely unexpected.

The two losses came to sixth-ranked Oregon and fifth-ranked UCLA, part of a formidable stretch of the schedule that includes a trip to fourth-ranked Arizona on Thursday night. Only three other teams in the country have played three consecutive games against Top 10 opponents.

But the Trojans’ offensive drought has also arrived amid the anticipated return of Bennie Boatwright, the talented sophomore scorer who missed two months after spraining his knee.
