USC basketball falls out of AP top 25 rankings

For the first time since early December, USC is no longer ranked.

The Trojans dropped out of the latest Associated Press men’s basketball poll after splitting a two-game mountain time road trip at Utah and Colorado. They were drubbed by the Utes, 86-64, on Thursday, before a 71-68 victory over the Buffaloes on Sunday night.

Sophomore forward Chimezie Metu lifted the team with a go-ahead hook shot with 29 seconds left in the second half. Metu finished with a career-high 24 points.

Last week, the Trojans were voted No. 25, tied with Kansas State. It was the fifth straight week that they had appeared in the rankings, equaling their longest stretch in nine years.
