USC baseball team edges Cal State Fullerton with late runs, 2-1

FULLERTON – Cal State Fullerton’s Blake Quinn tossed six scoreless innings Tuesday night, but USC scored a pair of runs in the seventh inning for a 2-1 nonconference victory, spoiling the Titans’ Senior Night home finale at Goodwin Field.

Fullerton senior Josh Vargas went 2 for 4 and drove in the Titans’ only run in the fifth inning. Fellow seniors Jerrod Bravo, Dakota Wix, and Tyler Stieb all picked up hits, while sophomore Chris Hudgins had a hit in his first start at catcher after missing nearly six weeks with an injured finger.

The No. 23 Titans (33-20) took their 1-0 lead after Wix, Hudgins and Stieb got three consecutive singles to load the bases with no one out.
