My takeaways from the Memphis Tigers' 24-14 victory against the Tulane Green Wave on Friday night at Yulman Stadium:
--The Green Wave special teams of 2015 reared their ugly head against Memphis. The units had been decidedly improved this season under the direction of head coach Willie Fritz, who has overseen the coaching duties of the special teams. But Friday night's performance was ugly all the way around. Punt returner Dontrel Hilliard fumbled away two punts, one of which led to a Memphis field goal. Place kicker Andrew DiRocco missed a 39-yard field-goal attempt. And the kickoff return team fell asleep on Memphis' first kickoff and allowed the Tigers to recover a surprise onside kick.
