Tulane coach says pitcher Ross Massey appears 'out of whack' in poor 2017 debut

For a left-hander who walked 18 batters in 90.1 innings as a freshman last season, the 11 consecutive balls and six walked batters Sunday were uncharacteristic at best for Ross Massey.

The Baton Rouge native hit the second batter he faced and walked the three after that in the 7-4 Tulane loss to Army. He left the game after three innings.

"I think I was rushing it a little bit," Massey said. "I got ahead of myself. The command wasn't there. But I'll take this as a learning experience heading into next week."

Which is about the only thing he can do.
