Louisiana is known for producing the most pro football players per capita, but one study shows it holds the same title when the five major U.S. sports leagues are included.
Rukkus.com studied the NFL, NBA, MLB, NFL and MLS rosters to compile information on where in the nation -- and the world -- the athletes are coming from. Louisiana came out on top of U.S. states with 2.08 pro athletes per 100,000 population, followed by Georgia (1.90) and Alabama (1.81).
California, Florida and Texas produce the straight-up majority of pro athletes.
