Troy's young linebackers step up as injuries accumulate

Troy senior linebacker Demetrius Cain (21) said he should play Saturday against Georgia Southern despite suffering a stinger last week. Injuries to Troy's linebacker corps have allowed younger players to contribute late in the season.

“I’ve prepared a lot,” he said. “I’ve just been waiting for my moment. That’s all it’s been.”

Folsom, playing in place of an injured Terris Lewis, paced the Trojans (9-2 overall, 6-1 Sun Belt Conference) with eight tackles in Troy’s 40-7 victory over Texas State Saturday. Folsom had just 11 tackles this season, mostly on special teams, entering the contest.
