TROY – Coming off its best season at the FBS level, Troy has been picked to finish second in the Sun Belt Conference in a vote by the league’s 12 head coaches, the league office announced Thursday.
Troy received a pair of first place votes and tallied 127 overall points, just nine points behind preseason favorite Appalachian State, which received 136 points and seven first place votes.
Arkansas State, UL Lafayette and New Mexico State received the other first place votes . C oaches were allowed to vote for their own teams.
Arkansas State was picked to finish third in this season’s poll followed by South Alabama, UL Lafayette, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, ULM, New Mexico State, Texas State and Coastal Carolina.
