The 6-foot-2, 290-pound rising senior celebrated his 17th birthday and publically committed to Troy University on Tuesday.
“I just feel at home in Troy,” Pierce said in a phone interview with the Dothan Eagle. “I feel like that was probably my best decision with it being so close to home. I have a chance to be going in and playing immediately and my parents loved it there.”
Pierce said other colleges that were showing interest in him included Virginia, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi and Tulane.
As a junior, Pierce tallied 39 tackles – 18 solo and 21 assists – in 10 games for the Cougars.
