Bottom of the seventh, two outs, down by one, runners on second and third, winner advances, loser goes home. Most would call this a high-pressure situation that they would not want any part of. However, these are the situations that I learned how to thrive in. Softball taught me how to embrace pressure, failure, and the differences of others.
Softball was not always my best friend. There were times I wanted to quit and times I wondered why I played a sport that wrapped me up in failure more times than not. But as I matured on and off the field, the game began to show me just what it wanted me to learn over the last 18 years.
