Former Barbour County standout Emanuel Thompson provides leadership to Troy WRs

Troy receiver Emanuel Thompson (8) makes a catch for a touchdown during a game against New Mexico State last Saturday night in Troy.

“He stays on us,” sophomore wide receiver and first-year Trojan Sidney Davis said. “He’s at outside receiver and we play inside, but he stays on us, too. He’s an all-around good guy. He gives off good energy at practice.”

While the former Barbour County quarterback could not contribute on the field early in camp because of a knee injury, he continued to impact the team through his experience and personality from the sidelines. Even though he is a junior, Thompson has emerged as the leader for a wide receiver corps short on experience.
