Raptors Rumors: Vince Carter to return to Raptors via free agency?

In tonight's edition of Raptors rumors,  the Toronto Raptors may be looking for a return to the Vinsanity days of Toronto basketball -- expressing interest in bringing veteran Vince Carter back into the fold.

Per Glenn Erby of FootBasket.com, ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that the Toronto Raptors may make a play to sign Vince Carter via free agency this offseason:

Word is that the Raptors have been kicking around the idea of making a free-agent play this summer to try to bring Vince Carter “home” by trying to sign the former face of the franchise away from the Mavericks.

Be advised that Carter has been very happy in Dallas these past three seasons. Very happy. He’s emerged as the emotional leader of Dirk Nowitzki‘s team at this late stage of his career and, by all accounts, wants to re-sign with Dallas.

Vince Carter may be content to finish off his career as a leader in Dallas, so this may amount to mere speculation on Stein's part. However, Carter could see the positive direction which the Toronto Raptors are heading behind the talents of Kyle Lowry and Demar DeRozan as the perfect opportunity to attend to business left unfinished when he was traded from the team to the Nets some ten years ago.
