Lou Williams Wins NBA Sixth Man of the Year

Lou Williams has just been named the 2014/15 NBA Sixth Man of the Year. Williams won the award over Isaiah Thomas of the Boston Celtics and Jamal Crawford of the Los Angeles Clippers. The prestigious award puts Williams in rare company among past award winners for the Toronto Raptors.

Williams is the first Raptor to win an award that isn’t Rookie of the Year. In fact, he is the first player for the Raptors to win an award since 1999. Only Vince Carter (1999) and Damon Stoudamire (1996) have won previously. In his first year in Canada, Williams simultaneously rejuvenated his career and ended a 16-year award drought for the Raptors.
