Mitch Marner had an outstanding night, with so much hype around Auston Matthews this off-season. Marner has clearly been able to put his head down and gain some weight.
He was by far the best player on the ice technically, bar Varone having a stormer of a 4-point night. He glided past players just like he has done at every other level of hockey he has played, silencing evermore critics that he isn’t big enough.
Ray Ferraro on TSN claiming Marner’s night was “an unqualified success”.
