Does Nazem Kadri Deserve a Contract Extension?

Last summer the Toronto Maple Leafs took a low risk gamble by signing Nazem Kadri to a one year contract. It was a chance for the former first round pick to prove himself worthy of a larger, longer contract.

With Phil Kessel traded and Mike Babcock bringing his brand of hockey to Toronto, the stars were aligning for Kadri to make good on his talent. With the season well past the halfway point, the jury on his progress is still out.

From a pure numbers standpoint, the year does not look good for Kadri. With 28 points in 52 games, he is far from lighting the ice on fire.
