Mom of Braves' Freddie Freeman always 'with me'

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA. - When Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman takes the infield at Marlins Park in Miami on March 9 wearing a Canadian uniform, his late mother Rosemary will be with him, in spirit and more.

Freeman, who was born and raised in Orange County, CA to Canadian parents, wears a necklace with a cross that contains some of his mother’s hair. He also wears long sleeves when he plays to honour his mom, who died of melanoma skin cancer when Freeman was 10 years old.

“She’s with me everywhere I go,” said Freeman on Saturday at Champion Stadium, the Braves’ spring training park.
