Blue Jays' Donaldson has recaptured swagger

TORONTO — Josh Donaldson can do no wrong at the plate during the Blue Jays’ current homestand, recapturing much of the game-changing power that helped The Bringer of Rain become one of the game’s most-feared hitters over the past few seasons.

The third baseman is batting .467 (14-for-30) to go along with five homers and 14 RBIs in the Jays’ past nine games. Since July 27, Donaldson’s nine home runs are tied with Nelson Cruz and Joey Gallo for the most among American League sluggers.

He continued that type of production on Wednesday, smoking an offering from Rays starter Jake Faria back up the middle for a first-inning single to extend his hitting streak to five games.
