Nationals' Stephen Strasburg leaves game with injury

Washington Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg left Friday night’s start against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park after just 16 pitches with an apparent injury.

After issuing a walk to Reds catcher Brayan Pena to begin the second inning, Strasburg was visited on the mound by trainers and Nationals manager Matt Williams. Moments later, Strasburg walked into the dugout.

Right-hander Taylor Jordan replaced Strasburg, who surrendered a solo homer to first baseman Joey Votto in the first inning that put the Reds ahead 1-0. Votto’s homer was the 16th earned run allowed by Strasburg in his past four starts.
