Blue Jays win bidding for prized lefty Price

TORONTO -- Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos officially went all in Thursday afternoon by acquiring former Cy Young Award winner David Price from the Tigers in exchange for left-hander Daniel Norris and a pair of pitching prospects.

Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports was the first to report the framework of the deal. In addition to Norris, Detroit also will receive left-handers Matt Boyd and Jairo Labourt.

Anthopoulos made no secret of his desire to improve the Blue Jays' starting rotation and in the end he was able to acquire arguably the best pitcher available. It's a similar package of prospects that the Reds received for right-hander Johnny Cueto and Price had been the clear preferred choice for Toronto.
