Rain again presents threat to racing at Daytona; storms forecast

Racing and sunshine, you say? OK, how about rain?

Here we go again. Last July's Sprint Cup race at Daytona ended about 2:40 a.m. ET because of a rain delay. Qualifying was washed out, racing didn't begin until 11:42 p.m. on Saturday night and Dale Earnhardt Jr. won on Sunday morning before Austin Dillon's
Spectacular, frightening crash.

Get ready for more laps by track-drying machines. Thursday's rain could return Friday, affecting Cup qualifying or the night's Xfinity Series race. Thunderstorms are included in the forecast.

Saturday should bring sun most of the day.
