Jozy Altidore wins U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year award

Jozy Altidore has been named the U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year, the federation announced Friday night.

Altidore, who will be playing for the MLS Cup on Saturday with Toronto FC against the Seattle Sounders, scored six goals and assisted on two others in his 10 national team appearances in 2016 to take home the award with 32 percent of the vote.

The big striker missed out on the Copa America Centenario with a hamstring injury, but rebounded strongly afterwards.
